The Solid Tumor Translational Development Disease Team (ST-TDDT) is looking for a thoughtful, innovative, and highly motivated translational scientist to join an energetic team.
The successful candidate will be a key contributor in the group, by designing and executing scientific strategies to guide late asset development. They will be an expert in executing sophisticated experimental work including development of cellular and biochemical assays to study pathological mechanisms in cancer and opportunities for therapeutic intervention both by targeted and immunological agents.
The successful candidate will be a subject-matter expert in one of more areas of immuno-oncology including antigen presentation, priming, cytotoxicity and cell trafficking. A demonstrated through authorship of peer reviewed publications and post/doctoral academic/industry experience with evidence of sustained high performance and accomplishment is expected. The candidate must have a thorough knowledge of experimental design and a high level of technical laboratory skill with primary human samples (including cell culture, ELISA, protein signaling, qPCR technology platforms, flow cytometry and imaging) together with an ability to interpret results. Experience with managing direct reports is a requirement.
The position requires excellent communication skills and ability to present data, and willingness to work in a highly collaborative research team environment. Prior clinical-facing experience is a plus as the role will entail translational support for late stage assets.
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, being a thought leader within the team to critically evaluate literature, provide scientific insights and input into program strategy; independently design, execute and interpret experiments to generate data to support decision-making; support scientific associates in design, execution and interpretation of experiments; Introduce and troubleshoot new methods, platforms and project concepts. The candidate will work with the program leadership to develop and test clinically relevant hypothesis utilizing internal datasets and clinical sample cohorts and will represent the ST-TDDT in internal and external meetings. Expectations include effective time management, balanced experimental design, rigorous interpretation of data, and clear communication of results. The qualified candidate should be capable of working on multiple projects within a highly-matrixed multi-disciplinary research environment.
Qualifications / Essential Skills
PhD or postdoctoral experience in immunology, cell biology or tumor biology with 10 of post-graduate experience in an academic or industry setting
Deep knowledge of human immunology, tumor biology and interactions between the tumor and immune system
Significant understanding of state-of-the-art methods to explore tumor-immune system interactions and assay development for mechanistic characterization of anti-tumor agents.
Excellent performance record and scientific accomplishments and experience in the field as demonstrated by publication record, pipeline contributions and patent applications.
Clear evidence of independent thought and creativity in developing and implementing ideas to answer translational questions
Individuals with strong leadership, communication skills, and with experience in participating in and/or leading multi-disciplinary project teams are encouraged to apply.

Excellent written and oral presentation skills; flexibility and proactive approach to taking on a multifunctional role within a large cross-function team.
