An opportunity has arisen to join the University of Plymouth’s Peninsula Clinical Trials Unit as a Clinical Trials Data Assistant. The Peninsula Clinical Trials Unit (PenCTU) addresses health and social care challenges through the design, development and delivery of national and international clinical trials and other health research studies in a variety of clinical fields. We are looking for someone with energy and enthusiasm who will undertake wide-ranging duties to assist data managers and trial managers in the delivery of a portfolio of research projects. Under the guidance of the data management team, you will assist with the creation of electronic data capture forms (using REDCap Cloud software), deal with routine trial queries, pass non-routine and clinical queries on to the appropriate staff/professionals and ensure queries are resolved within an appropriate time period. You will provide trial administration in compliance with the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research and applicable regulations, organising and maintaining Investigator Site Files and Trial Master Files, creating and reviewing essential trial documents, supporting IRAS applications and other trial management activities under the guidance of the trial management team. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of trial managers, data managers, database developers, statisticians, researchers and clinicians in an academic health services research environment. With qualifications at A-level or HND (or equivalent), you will have recent experience of administration in a clinical research environment, preferably within an academic environment. You will have experience in using and maintaining databases and be highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and other Office applications. Experience using REDCap or REDCap Cloud systems is desirable. You will have good knowledge of all stages in the life cycle of clinical trials. Knowledge of NHS research governance and the regulatory requirements governing the conduct of clinical trials in the UK is desirable. You will be able to write fluently, have excellent oral communication skills, be highly organised, demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and be able to prioritise your workload.
