Global Head of Product & Analytical Development Strategy and Data Analytics Engineering

Bristol-Myers Squibb Global Cell Therapy Development Operations (CTDO) is developing novel cellular immunotherapies based on two distinct and complementary platforms – Chimeric Antigen Receptors (CARs) and T Cell Receptors (TCRs) technologies. Our goal is to revolutionize medicine by re-engaging the body’s immune system to treat cancer.

Product and Analytical Development (P&AD) is looking for an exceptional leader to 1) design and establish P&AD project teams and systems to ensure P&AD leaders and departments can effectively and efficiently meet their deliverables within the requested time and cost to enable portfolio CMC product lifecycle plans and strategies, including technology implementation in the commercial QC network; and 2) establish integrated data analytics capability and provide data of excellent quality to inform effective CMC decision making. The incumbent will collaborate with P&ADLT in setting and driving organizational vision, operational strategy, resourcing and hiring needs. S/he will collaborate with P&AD LT with translating strategy into actionable goals and helping to implement organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operating planning. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing an enterprise approach to CMC data management and integrated analytics across the Process and Product Development organizations. The individual will strengthen and build cross-organizational partnerships with key stakeholders and company IT groups to enable compliant CMC data management, integration, and analysis. This is a significant leadership position that requires strong partnership and collaboration with multiple stakeholders including Process Development, Research and Early Development, Quality, Regulatory, and CMC Strategy and LCM. This position will report to the Head of Product and Analytical Development and serve on the P&AD LT.

Technical

Lead the P&AD project leaders to provide excellent team leadership, focusing on delivering innovative product and analytical development strategies and reliable QC assays with urgency and within budgets.

Lead the creation, use and sustainability of fit for purpose systems, tools and processes to enable teams to thrive and deliver.

Develop actionable strategies and plans that ensure alignment with short-term and long-term objectives developed in tandem with P&AD LT. Direct P&AD strategy implementation, resources and overall project execution.

Develop appropriate P&AD governance, support effective decision-making and communication of decisions or recommendations to other governances.

Partner with P&AD and PS&T leaders to foster cross-functional thinking and work collaboratively to establish priorities and direction to ensure appropriate alignment and autonomy for the teams.

Proactively define and cultivate culture of strong teams and strong functional excellence.

Analyze internal operations and identify areas of improvement

Build core bioinformatics capability consisting of data management, programming, and molecular modeling.

Ensure validation of bioinformatic tools used for data analysis to enable CMC development and continuous process verification.

Leadership

Build and lead a cohesive and motivated P&AD leader team that develop a detailed understanding of its issues, challenges and opportunities.

Engage and retain talents by understanding individuals’ development needs, connecting with business requirements, and explaining the what, the why, and the how.

Attract and hire the best and brightest leaders, scientists, engineers, and analysts.

As part of P&AD LT, provide input and insights to strategic and operational decisions.

As part of P&AD LT, drive technical vision, strategy and product development roadmaps to meet corporate business requirements.

As part of P&AD LT, help define and effectively communicate a compelling scientific vision internally and externally.

As part of P&AD LT, contribute to cell and gene therapy insights and technology through publications and external partnership to deliver best in class therapies to patients.

Education and Experience Required

Thorough understanding of some aspect of technical operations or CMC; interest and demonstrated ability to learn across several disciplines (mfg, quality, supply chain, tech development, regulatory, patient experience, finance, operations, etc).

Experience with enterprise level data analysis, integration work and/or providing data focused systems integration solutions.

Demonstrated excellence in developing, mentoring, and managing staff.

Proven leadership and ability to positively influence colleagues and key decision makers.

Demonstrated collaboration skills working cross functionally, maintain strong stakeholder relationships, influencing direction, voicing opinion, and communicating effectively.

Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to draw insights from data quickly, perform analysis, and present business cases

MS/Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Pharmacy or Engineering is required. Minimum of 10 years experience in the biopharmaceutical industry with at least 5 yrs of leadership and/or management experience of technical groups.
