In Vivo Pharmacology Research Scientist
The In Vivo Pharmacology Research Scientist will join the Oncology Discovery Pharmacology and In Vivo Biology group at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Cambridge, MA. The individual hired for this position will conduct experiments utilizing tumored mouse models to aide in the advancement of early stage therapeutic targets at the intersection of tumor genetics and tumor immunobiology.
The qualified candidate is a highly motivated, interactive, and creative individual that possesses the ability to work across a highly matrixed environment to advance preclinical drug development programs from target identification/validation through IND enabling activities. The candidate is expected to effectively collaborate with colleagues in the Discovery Oncology, protein engineering/antibody development, pharmaceutical optimization, and chemistry groups. The successful candidate will demonstrate clear and professional verbal and written communication, capable of presenting scientific results to multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders.
Qualifications & Responsibilities
A B.S. with a minimum of 7 years, or a M.S with a minimum of 4 years of post-graduate relevant experience (>2 years of experience in a biotech/pharma setting) with a demonstrated record of leveraging in vivo pharmacology models to explore cancer biology and enable cancer drug discovery is required. PhD degree is not required.
Skilled at independently running in vivo mouse tumor models to perform tumor model development, anti-tumor efficacy and PK/PD studies in conjunction with necropsy/tissue/blood collection is required.
Proficiency with subcutaneous xenograft tumor models is required and experience with syngeneic models is desired. Experience with orthotopic models is a plus.
Skilled at murine dosing via PO, IP, IV, SC routes required, intra-tumor and IM dosing preferred.
Proficiency in cell culture, passaging and harvesting cells is required. Prior experience with cell line engineering (transfection, lentivirus-mediated transduction) is desired.
Demonstrated experience with the following ex vivo techniques is highly desired: tumor dissociation, DNA/RNA/protein extraction, qPCR, ELISA (MSD), WB.
Working knowledge and hands-on experience with multi-color FACS is desired, however not required.
Proficiency in utilizing software such as Graph Pad Prism, electronic notebooks, Microsoft Office etc. for data analysis and figure generation is required.
Attention to detail with excellent organizational and record keeping skills is a requirement.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with peers and management. Capable of presenting scientific results to multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders.
Ability to mentor junior associates and colleagues on best practices in the laboratory would be highly valued.
Highly motivated and ability to be flexible in case of changing priorities.
