BioMarin will continue to focus on advancing therapies that are the first or best of their kind.\u00A0\u00A0SUMMARY\u00A0We are looking for a highly motivated Research Associate with extensive\u00A0molecular biology\u00A0experience to join our Technical Development department Sequencing Core. A qualified candidate will be well versed in all aspects of sequencing including the latest Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) methods.\u00A0Excellent communication, strong collaboration skills,\u00A0and accurate record-keeping with\u00A0keen attention to detail are a must for this role. \u00A0\u00A0JOB DESCRIPTION:As part of our Sequencing Core team, the candidate will be working in a fast-paced\u00A0environment on multiple\u00A0high-priority projects and will support the team\u00A0by generating high quality data while executing both routine testing and more complex, exploratory research projects.\u00A0In addition, the candidate is expected to lead certain aspects of NGS projects independently including experimental design, execution, interpretation of results, drafting of technical documents, and communication of data to stakeholders through oral presentations and written reports.\u00A0\u00A0The successful candidate will be actively engaged in the development of novel NGS-based assays, new NGS library preparation methods, and in assay optimization and troubleshooting.\u00A0\u00A0RESPONSIBILITIES:\u00A0Perform standard molecular biology techniques including DNA & RNA extractions, qPCR and ddPCR analyses, restrictions enzyme digestions and gel electrophoresis.\u00A0Work closely with the Sequencing Core team and internal collaborators to develop and implement the state-of-the-art NGS-based assays and generate high quality NGS sequencing data.\u00A0Maintain detailed electronic laboratory notebook to record day-to-day activities,\u00A0including experiments, NGS datasets/databases and sample- and reagent-inventories.\u00A0Effectively communicate and collaborate with Sequencing Core team members\u00A0and with internal and external stakeholders in meetings and through written communications.\u00A0Assume project responsibilities and present project updates, experimental plans, timelines, and results in\u00A0both small and large group\u00A0meetings.\u00A0Prepare protocols, SOPs, reports, and other documents to support nonclinical and clinical programs and associated regulatory submissions. This includes\u00A0assay validation protocols,\u00A0reagent qualification reports, and data reports.\u00A0Document meticulously all experimental procedures for reproducible and high-quality results.\u00A0Assume responsibility for lab\u00A0and instrument maintenance.\u00A0\u00A0SKILLS:Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate in cross-functional teams.Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal\u00A0communication skills.Open and willing to learn new skills and techniques as needed.Experience working in a gene therapy area, especially AAV-based, is a strong plus.\u00A0\u00A0EXPERIENCE:At least 2 years of direct wet lab experience with NGS library preparation protocols and preliminary data analysis.Familiarity with basic bioinformatics tools for NGS data analysis and data quality check in high performance computing environment or Linux.
