Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary This is an opportunity to join a clinical research team in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. The position will be a shared position between two groups in our pulmonary and critical care division: asthma research team and interstitial lung disease research team. The asthma research team is led by James Krings, MD, MSCI and Kaharu Sumino, MD, MPH. This group focuses on pulmonary-related clinical research studies primarily in severe asthma, but also in COPD, and other respiratory diseases. The interstitial lung disease research team is led by Tonya Russell, MD and Mary Clare McGregor, MD. This group focuses on clinical trials related to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and other forms of interstitial lung disease. Both research teams have extensive experience in conducting clinical research and we are looking for a motivated individual to join our collaborative team. The potential job would include close collaboration and working side-by-side with other experienced clinical research coordinators on ongoing and upcoming NIH-funded and industry-sponsored trials. Assists investigators as coordinator of a basic to moderately complex clinical research study; may be responsible for multiple research studies simultaneously, acting as a liaison with the school, sponsoring agency, community and the study participants; responsible for managing and recording all phases of study protocol as required by sponsoring agency to ensure compliance. Nurses, respiratory therapists, and applicants with long-term interest in medicine and clinical research are encouraged to apply. Job Description Primary Duties u0026amp; Responsibilities Routinely implements and manages all phases of study/protocol; ensures compliance with protocol guidelines and requirements of regulatory agencies; establishes record-keeping systems; makes assessments and determinations of participants progress in the study; analyzes, investigates, and reports adverse events; makes decisions as when to notify physicians of issues, when to stop participant inclusion, and/or to make and/or recommend adjustment of the protocol of particular participants; resolves IRB/protocol management issues and recommends corrective action as appropriate; serves as liaison with funding or sponsoring agency. Routinely recruits and enrolls study participants; makes and/or participates in making determinations of eligibility based on diagnostic criteria and/or observations/analysis in participant interviews; develops informed consent packets for study participants and confers with participants to explain purpose of study and obtain completed informed consent packets; explains diagnostic procedures and treatment plans to address participant/family concerns; administers/scores tests and/or evaluates all lab and clinical assessments to ensure they are completed in a timely manner. Routinely ensures timely completion of all protocol requirements (assessment, lab testing, procedures and treatments) to include scheduling and facilitating the patients timely completion of protocol requirements; evaluates and interprets collected clinical data in conjunction with PI as appropriate; prepares oral or written presentations or reports and analyses setting forth progress trends and provides recommendations or conclusions of the same. Routinely collects clinical data under clinical research protocols. Performs other duties incidental to the work described herein. Preferred Qualifications 2 years of experience in clinical research. Experience with record-keeping systems such as RedCap. Experience in IRB/protocol management issues, participant recruitment, explaining diagnostic procedures, etc. Experience in pulmonary medicine including conducting spirometry would be considered another plus (this training could be provided by our experienced pulmonary clinical research coordinators). Required Qualifications Bachelors degree plus a minimum of two years of clinical research experience; a combination of relevant work and education equaling six years may substitute for this requirement. Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements). BLS certification must be obtained within one month of hire date. Grade C10 Salary Range $50,600.00 - $75,800.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
